A dreamteacher is a specialized type of virtual reality computer software that enables M’rowans (and, as it turns out, humans) to improve or learn new skills or languages while sleeping by creating dreams of situations designed to teach and allow the user to reflect on the skill in question.
Dreamteachers are best suited to teach mental or knowledge-based skills. Primarily physical skills, such as combat or sports, can be taught up to a point by (in a sense) ‘programming’ the user’s nervous system, it is ultimately not a replacement for actual training of such skills.
The dreamteacher software requires a direct connection to the user’s brain, which is usually established through a special helmet-like accessory; individuals with an implant computer and a neural jack or wireless connection do not need such equipment, though. In addition, the software can be fairly demanding in computer requirements – for less advanced skills, a personal computer will suffice, while more complex fields require a microframe or even a mainframe computer.
