Holography is a technology that allows the display of three-dimensional visual images in mid-air. Building on a further development of laser weapon technology, it works by emitting a series of light beams that intersect with each bother in a certain pattern. At each intersection of two or more beams, temporary visible ‘pixels’ are created, which are combined to make up the full image.
The most important limitation of the technology is that at least three holoemitters are required, and must be arranged around the space where the image is to appear. For that reason, holographic units are usually installed permanently in a certain spot; portable units are possible, but not particularly convenient.
With that exception, holography is otherwise found almost everywhere throughout M’rowan society, being used for e.g. entertainment, advertising, data presentation and analysis, and much more.
