La’zar is a star system in Lik’auzu territory. As a very young star (only ca. 25 million years old) still in its earliest stage of evolution, no terrestrial planets have formed here yet, so it is considered a somewhat marginal system in economic terms. Still, a large community of asteroid miners work in the rich debis disc in the inner system, and several gas and anti-matter extraction facilities orbit its gas giants.
The economic hub of the system is Storehouse station, which caters mostly to the asteroid miners, but its strict no-questions-asked policy also makes it a popular stopover for pirates, smugglers and other people who value discretion.
As a young T Tauri protostar, La’zar is considerably more active and variable than more mature stars. Unpredictable intense X-ray emissions are not unusual, requiring the mining ships that operate in the inner system to be heavily shielded. In another 75 million years or so, La’zar will mature into a main-sequence class K star, slightly cooler than the Sun.
